Foundation

ACG Parnell College (formerly ACG Junior College) opened in 1998 as one of the first independent
Year 7 to year 10 high schools in the country.
It has developed into an exciting place of learning
that focuses on the individual needs of its students.

The College

Located in the inner-city suburb of Parnell in Auckland, ACG Parnell College now offers a comprehensive Year 1 to Year 13 education in an outstanding facility. The environment offers high quality education for young people and is centred on encouraging excellence and results. The curriculum is broad-based to ensure that students develop diverse skills that will enable them to take
a range of subjects at senior levels. A high emphasis
is placed on the acquisition of good literacy and
numeracy skills, while "Thinking Skills" are taught
as part of the curriculum to create ordered minds
and deeper understanding.

All students are challenged to set goals for themselves. These are recorded and the teachers work with each student to achieve success. Each term an Achievement Conference Day is held when students meet individually with their tutors to evaluate achievements and set new goals. Extension activities are in place in each curriculum area to challenge able students. These include opportunities to sit IGCSE papers in Mathematics and Science at Year 10.

The Curriculum

Subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Music Art, Drama, Physical Education and Spanish. ICT is integrated into all programmes of work. In addition, students in Years 8 and 9 study ICT skills for 45 minutes each week.

ACG Parnell College lies adjacent to one of the city's finest open spaces, The Auckland Domain. Sports facilities, such as the Newmarket Gym and Pool and the Parnell Tennis Club, are close at hand. The College is easily accessible from most areas of metropolitan Auckland.

Sports and Activities

ACG Parnell College’s specialist facilities include a gymnasium, a large library and a cafeteria, sophisticated art, technology and computer rooms, drama spaces, "wired" classrooms and laboratories.
