The School
Kadimah College opened in 1971. Since then it has grown steadily to providing for children from Pre-school to Year 8. Operating under the umbrella of the Bernard Goldwater Educational Trust, the college is situated in Central Auckland and while providing full facilities on its present site, it also makes full use of the sporting and cultural resources of Auckland City in delivering a comprehensive education to all of its students.

Kadimah College offers a curriculum framework which includes all the subjects of the New Zealand national curriculum and adds to that a programme of Jewish Studies and Hebrew Language. Kadimah has a strongly values based programme. It is a college where it is safe to be different and where the diversity of the student body is seen as a richness. The college provides for both Jewish children and children from the broad spectrum of New Zealand’s diverse ethnic and religious communities. This in itself represents a part of our strength.

The college prides itself in delivering a high quality education which takes into full account of intellectual, cultural, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of children. We strive for academic excellence while recognising our main objective of enabling each child to realise its full potential.

Our programmes give emphasis to enrichment and extension while also providing carefully for the needs of individual students.

The Curriculum
This is broad based and well balanced. We give full emphasis to the enrichment of each child by providing many opportunities in music, art, drama, public speaking, foreign languages learning, technology, information technology and enrichment and extension activities at all levels. We strive to have children take an ever-increasing responsibility for their own learning and on having them develop the wide range of skills needed in today’s fast moving world where learning how to learn is every bit as important as acquiring knowledge. Inculcating a love of learning in each child is something we strive for.

Sporting and Cultural Activities
We make full use of the facilities around us to provide a well balanced programme in physical education and major sports such as tennis, basketball, squash, swimming, athletics, cross-country running. Our electives programmes and cultural activities highlight such features as chess, annual major productions, a school choir, a classical ensemble, a jazz group and folk dancing to mention but a few. Outdoor education is also a feature of our year with each class from Year 5 onwards having an annual camp.

The Future
With the demand for places at Kadimah, the Governing Committee is currently planning for the development of the college on to another nearby site. While this is still imminent, the growth of Kadimah is tied to this. It will, however, always maintain the qualities of a smaller, caring and welcoming co-educational school community, strongly values based and enjoying very close relationships between the home and the school, between parents and teachers as they engage in a partnership to maximise life’s opportunities for all of our students.
