Buildings include a specially constructed kindergarten, classrooms, junior library, library and information centre, science and technology block, two full size gymnasiums, sports pavilion, chapel, an arts centre complex incorporating teaching space for art, drama and music, a 200 seat theatre, as well as a 1200 seat auditorium. There are also extensive playing fields and hard courts for winter and summer sports. The curriculum At Years 12 and 13, Kristin offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma. This examination, taught throughout the world, offers entrance to both New Zealand and overseas universities. Kristin is the first school in New Zealand to be authorised to offer the Primary Years Programme. This programme aims to create an international transdisciplinary curriculum that is relevant, challenging and engaging. Strong emphasis is placed on international understanding and responsible citizenship. The Middle School is working towards the implementation of the Middle Years Programme. Both Junior and Middle Schools embrace the NZ Curriculum and IB Programmes. As a non-denominational school welcoming people of all beliefs, Kristin endeavours to develop spiritual awareness. Parents and teachers are required to respect the Christian tradition of the school and be supportive of the school’s core values. Sporting and Cultural Activities Kristin is developing a fine and strong tradition in the arts, music and drama, providing opportunities for participation in debating, public speaking, drama and dance, orchestras, choirs, other musical groups and bands. Private music tuition is available.
