Foundation
The Saint Kentigern Trust was founded in 1949 and in 1953, Saint Kentigern College opened on an attractive site in Pakuranga.

The School
The chapel is a central part of college life, and Christian education, taught by the chaplain and other members of staff, is an integral part of the curriculum. Services are held weekdays and Sunday evenings.

With a campus of 105 acres, students enjoy spacious sports fields and facilities. An extensive building programme is underway and our current facilities (hall, a sports centre including gymnasiums and two squash courts, a library, administration block, swimming pool, chapel, horticulture site and 16 sports fields) will be complemented by a new art and technology block in 2003. Facilities for boarders include senior (Years 12 and 13) lodges, large dining hall and completely refurbished dormitories for all levels.

The Curriculum
In the Middle School (Years 7-10) the focus is on the essential learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum, plus Christian Education classes and a range of language and arts options. In the Senior School a wide range of specialist subjects cater for academic strengths and interests. Saint Kentigern is a totally wireless campus and the students use their personal computer notebooks to access a range of teaching and learning resources from the college intranet and the internet.

Sports Academy – Tennis and Golf
Created to foster excellence in sports, our Golf Academy and Tennis Academy are giving talented young athletes an environment to build their skills, within an academic framework. Academy pupils enjoy top level coaching every afternoon, and spend their mornings in normal classes appropriate to their age and level.

Sporting and Cultural Activities
All students are encouraged to take part in regular organised sport and to play for school teams. The college has teams competing across 24 sports, from rugby to more diverse codes such as fencing and in-line hockey. Teams compete in Auckland Secondary Schools competitions and the college has an excellent record in local, regional and national competitions.

Cultural activities have a high profile in the college with a range of performing music groups (orchestra, choir, concert band etc). As benefits our traditions, there is a full pipe band, plus drama, theatre-sports, kapa haka, chess and debating.

The college actively encourages exchanges with overseas schools and teams have toured Australia, Japan, Canada and the USA in recent years.

Scholarships and Bursaries
A comprehensive range of scholarship and bursary opportunities exists at Saint Kentigern College. These range from Academic, Music, Art, Sport and all-rounder scholarships. Special circumstances bursaries are available for boys and girls in Year 9, offering a discount on tuition fees (normally 25% or 33%) for up to five years.

Examinations are held in March of the preceding year.

A non-refundable $250 Application Fee is payable at the time of submitting your application to cover administrative costs.

A non-refundable $750 Acceptance Fee is payable upon being offered a place at the college.  The Acceptance Fee is billed to you at the time a place is offered and must be paid before the place will be confirmed.

A non-refundable $450 Association Fee is payable and billed to you at the time a place is offered and must be paid before the place will be confirmed.  This covers life membership of the Saint Kentigern Old Collegians Association and membership of the Saint Kentigern Parents & Friends Association.

The $2000 Saint Kentigern Education Bond is a non interest bearing deposit, repayable after the student leaves, provided the appropriate notice of withdrawal has been given and all accounts due have been paid.  Only one deposit is required per family.
