Foundation
The school was opened in 1959 on a property, formerly the residence of the Wilson family, which was gifted to the Trust by the late Martyn Wilson.

The School
Sited on seven hectares of attractive land bordering the Waitemata Harbour, facilities include 19 classrooms, seven specialist rooms, library, resource centre, computer suite, music school, multi-purpose hall and chapel, heated outdoor pool, tennis courts and spacious playing fields.

Our Focus
A balanced curriculum is offered to meet the needs of individual students academically, culturally, spiritually and physically.

- Christian education is an integral part of the curriculum. All students are required to attend morning chapel or assembly and to participate in class lessons and devotions. Attendance is obligatory at the regular family services.
- To allow for individualised programmes within the curriculum, students are taught in small groups in mathematics, art, music, science, drama, food and design technology.
- Many opportunities exist for students to participate in extramural activities such as Future Problem Solving, mathematics and essay writing competitions, science fairs, drama and art festivals.
- A Challenges programme caters for students with a range of special gifts through supervised group projects.
- Remedial needs are met by the reading recovery programme for juniors and individual or small group assistance in the language curriculum for senior students.
- An itinerant tutor programme is available for the teaching of musical instruments.
- Students can represent the school from Year 4 onwards in various sporting codes such as rugby, soccer, hockey, cricket, softball, basketball, badminton, swimming, athletics, gymnastics, cross-country, golf, windsurfing and yachting. A physical education specialist assists with class lessons and the sporting programme.

Scholarships
A number are awarded at the Year 7 level following examinations held in the July preceding entry.

The awards are tenable for two years and are for half the tuition.

A discount is given for two or more brothers at school.

A non-refundable $250 Application Fee is payable at the time of submitting your application to cover administrative costs.

A non-refundable $750 Acceptance Fee is payable upon being offered a place at the school.  The Acceptance Fee is billed to you at the time a place is offered and must be paid before the place will be confirmed.

A non-refundable $450 Association Fee is payable and billed to you at the time a place is offered and must be paid before the place will be confirmed.  This covers life membership of the Saint Kentigern Old Collegians Association and membership of the Saint Kentigern Parents & Friends Association.

The $2000 Saint Kentigern Education Bond for boys entering the school at Y1-6.  This is a non interest bearing deposit to be paid by all students entering the school for the time time in Y1-6.  This is repayable after the student leaves, provided the appropriate notice of withdrawal has been given and all accounts due have been paid.  Only one deposit is required per family.

A $2000 Facilities Levy for boys entering the school at Y7-8.  This Levy is for all students entering the school for the first time in Y7 or Y8.  This Levy is payable instead of the Education Bond.  This is not refundable, however, should the student continue on to the college, this will be converted into an Education Bond.
