Foundation
The school was founded in 1929 as a non-denominational school, based on a philosophy developed by Charlotte Mason (1842-1923), who believed that “Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life”. Given an awareness of the individual child and a rich curriculum, education should be enjoyable.

The School
Selwyn House School is an independent, non-denominational, day and boarding school for girls from new entrants to Year 8, located in Merivale Lane, Christchurch.
