The Curriculum St Mark’s - offers a sound mix of traditional and modern best practice in teaching and learning - challenges students with programmes appropriate to their learning needs - expects and encourages students to be self-motivated, self-disciplined and focused - develops leadership skills and provides opportunities at all levels and particularly for senior students (Year 7 and 8) - provides extension studies for Year 5-8 students including mathematics, information technology, technology challenge, philosophy, debate, dance and introductory language classes in French, German, Japanese and Maori. Sporting and Cultural Activities - Specialist teaching of music from pre-school to Year 8. There are several choirs, an orchestra and recorder ensemble. - Drama, debating, speech and musical competitions and performances are held annually. - Trinity College London Performance classes in Speech and Drama from Year 5. - Skills, and co-ordination are developed through participation in physical fitness and a variety of sports. - Specialist teaching in physical education, outdoor education and education outside the classroom further extend student’s skills and understandings. Tuition Fees Tuition fees include initial basic stationery requirements. Building Levy The Building Levy: · will apply throughout the student’s time at school, and · is used for present and future building development. Technology & Activities Fund This Fund: · varies depending on year level requirements; · covers the costs of trips, visits and activities, but · excludes major outdoor education expenses such as camps. ICT Levy This levy covers the ongoing ICT development costs within the school. Fees Protection The Fees Protection Insurance Scheme levy: · is compulsory and is included within the tuition fees; · In the event of the death of either parent, the insurance enables a child to continue their education at St Mark's. Disbursements There are no extras (eg small trips etc) disbursed to the School Fee Agreements In accordance with the Enrolment Agreement: · final payment date is 4 weeks from date of invoice; · one term’s notice of withdrawal is required in writing; · a penalty payment, currently set at 50% of a term’s fees, will be charged where a term’s notice of withdrawal is not given. Payment of fees · automatic payment in weekly, fortnightly or monthly installments is preferred, or · on receipt of invoice each term.
