ISNZ is calling for expressions of interest to fill the three vacancies that exist on the Independent Schools of New Zealand Charitable Trust Board.
ISNZ serves and represents 47 Member Schools which, collectively, educate more than 80% of children enrolled in private schools throughout New Zealand.
ISNZ is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation which provides services to its Member Schools and advocates on behalf of its members to promote and protect choice in education.
Skills sets required
The ISNZCT Board has moved from a representative board to a skills/competencies based board. It is no longer a requirement for a ISNZCT board member to be affiliated with an independent school. The skills sets currently required by the board to fill the three vacancies include:
- Government Relations experience
- Advocacy experience
- Legal expertise
- Public Relations
- Communications/Marketing experience
Meetings and term of office
The Board of the ISNZCT meets five times per year, the duration of each meeting being approximately 2.5 hours. A further meeting is held in December, if and when required. The meetings are held in Wellington at the ISNZ Office or via teleconference where necessary.
A ISNZCT trustee shall hold office for a term ending on the date of the AGM falling immediately after the third anniversary of the date of the appointment but shall be eligible for reappointment for a further term of the same length up to a maximum of two terms in total.
A position on the ISNZCT Board is unpaid with meeting related expenses paid by ISNZ.
How to apply
Expressions of interest should include:
- Governance experience/expertise
- Skills/competencies that would be brought to the board
- Comment on the alignment/cultural fit to the independent school movement and the promotion of choice in education
We would welcome expressions of interest from anyone who may have the required competencies and be interested in serving on the ISNZCT board.
Expressions of interest can be emailed to:
