Service to Pastoral Care and Education
“An outstanding educator who leads, demonstrates and challenges students”, Claire Hall has made a significant contribution to raising academic, pastoral, and cultural achievement levels at Scots College, over the past decade.
As House Dean and English Head of Department, Claire fully embraces the school’s ethos of striving to develop all-round character in its students and, is noted for “always going the extra mile”.
Having completely transformed the Middle School curriculum over the past six years, Claire has also instigated an annual speech competition, an English Studies Curriculum for Year 12 students and a weekly Homework Club.
As Head of Glasgow House over the past eight years Claire has very effectively integrated girls into the house system and has successfully mentored three colleagues to themselves become House Deans.
A former Arts Co-ordinator, Claire has instigated both the school’s Brother of Music Arts and Drama (BROMAD) week as well as the “Scots Got Talent” annual event and directed a number of whole-of-college productions.
In her innovative and varied contribution across a wide range of areas, Claire has even established an annual service initiative for Wellington Women’s Refuge.
Her exceptional academic, pastoral, and co-curricular contribution has previously been recognised with both the inaugural Scots College Excellence in Teaching Award and a National Excellence in Teaching Award.
And no better endorsement of just how much impact Claire’s tireless efforts have on the lives of both her students and their families alike, is the huge number of 21st Birthday invitations she receives.
