Gloria Archer, Southwell School

Service Support and Administration

Referred to as an “unsung hero” who has faithfully served Southwell School for 37 years under four different headmasters, Gloria Archer holds a multitude of key administration responsibilities.

As Registrar and International Student Manager, Gloria leads the school’s enrolment and orientation process, including being a welcoming first point of contact with prospective parents and providing a personal follow up to Open Day attendees.

Demonstrating a second-to-none knowledge of the Code of practice for the pastoral care of international students, Gloria meets weekly with individual international students to ensure their wellbeing needs are being met.

Gloria has adeptly mastered new computer systems as the school’s roll continues to undergo record growth and is now developing a new online application process.

Gloria continuously gives of her time, also assisting in maintaining the school’s archives and sharing her knowledge of Southwell’s history in the regular school newsletter and with new staff and families. She willingly participates in the many and varied school activities which sit outside her delegated responsibilities.

Gloria demonstrates tact and wisdom when confronted with challenges and her selfless contribution to both the school and the wider educational environment is widely and warmly appreciated. It is rare to find such loyal, long-serving and outstanding commitment to education governance.

Congratulations Gloria.
