Trudi Bell, Scots College – Service to Teaching and Leadership

Her ability to inspire her team and her students come from a deep-seated desire for everyone she works with to achieve their best.

Trudi Bell joined the staff of Scots College in the early 2000s as a teacher. She quickly established herself as an educator who was committed, professional, and hard-working.

Trudi makes sure the students in her care embrace opportunities in all aspects of school life. She expects high standards in literacy and numeracy and provides the necessary encouragement and support for all learners to achieve and enjoy their year in her class.

Students that move through the school and on to the senior years come back and visit Trudi regularly, particularly as they prepare to leave Scots College, as she is a teacher that stands out throughout their time at the College.

Trudi epitomises what it means to be a lifelong learner and is quick to embrace change. She has implemented and acted as a mentor in the implementation of the IB Primary Years Programme curriculum, at the Scots College Junior School.

Trudi’s generosity with her knowledge and skills does not end with the academic – she has always wholeheartedly immersed herself in every aspect of school life, as a classroom teacher, syndicate dean, house dean, and sports coach.

Her colleagues testify that everything she works with is successful. Nothing is too much trouble for Trudi if her students’ best interests are at heart. Trudi is the teacher every school needs. The one who shows commitment above and beyond what is required.
