ACG Strathallan appoints new primary school principal
ACG Strathallan is delighted to announce the appointment of Kristie Thomas as principal of the Primary School from Term 4.
Pukekohe resident Ms Thomas has 14 years’ senior management experience in primary schools including, most recently, three years as Principal of Awhitu District School. In that time she has focused on developing quality individualised learning programmes for students and seen notable improvement in student achievement.
Previous to this she held Deputy and Acting Principal roles during 11 years at Karaka School.
Ms Thomas is passionate about ensuring children are motivated, inspired and supported and believes strongly in the value of a holistic education.
“We need to set our children up for success by providing them with multiple opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom,” she said. “In a world of increasing technological capability we need to use a range of approaches to ensure our students develop the knowledge, values and skills that will help them succeed.”
She also brings a strong background in sport, including multiple New Zealand equestrian titles and a background in dance and aerobics coaching, and is a trained vocalist.
She has previously been recognised with a National Excellence in Teaching award.
Executive Principal Danny O’Connor said Ms Thomas’ selection from a strong field of local and international applicants was testament to her experience and attitude.
“Kristie is a driven, confident leader with a clear vision for primary school education. She places a strong emphasis on the importance of working together as a team to provide students exceptional pastoral care and high standards in the classroom. I look forward to seeing the continuation of the outstanding work that takes place in our primary school under her guidance.”
