Ann SK International

Ann Huang, 11, and her mother decided to move to New Zealand from Guangdong, China for Ann to attend Saint Kentigern Girls’ School. Ann and her mother arrived in New Zealand last year and have appreciated every moment.

Ann started at Saint Kentigern Girls’ School in term three and it didn’t take long for her to fit in and make new friends. The Girls’ School places an emphasis on being an extension of family life; one that understands the importance of maintaining a close relationship between students, their families and their place of learning.

With an excellent student to teacher ratio and programmes tailored to her needs, Ann says she feels inspired to strive for excellence, feels confident and enjoys learning. "The teachers and girls are really kind and encourage me to do my best."

Saint Kentigern Girls’ School staff are dedicated to assisting the girls to discover their talents while developing life skills such as problem solving, co-operation and self-management. In addition to their core subjects, the girls have access to specialist facilities for visual art, music, science and technology.

Ann enjoys testing the latest technologies with her friends and trying new experiments. Her classrooms are technology rich and from the earliest age, girls and their teachers make full use of these modern technologies to support teaching and learning. Today’s technology enhances the way students learn, analyse, create and experiment, preparing them well for their transition to secondary education and beyond.

Students are encouraged to participate to the very best of their ability across a broad range of academic, practical, physical and cultural pursuits. Teaching and learning programmes are challenging, exciting and varied, preparing them for an ever-changing world.

Ann says she has learnt a lot at Saint Kentigern Girls’ School and has made a lot of new friends. "I am very glad that my parents decided to send me to Saint Kentigern Girls’ School - I love it here."
