St Cuthbert's #GirlsInnov8
St Cuthbert's College believes that women have a key role to play in the fast-expanding technology industry and we are encouraging our girls to see how they can succeed in this field by exposing them to key components early in life.
As part of this philosophy, St Cuthbert's is holding the first GIRLS ONLY residential code camp, #GirlsInnov8, which is the first of its kind in New Zealand. The camp is available to all girls from Year 9 - 13 in 2015 and will provide a hands-on, varied and intensive learning opportunity for students throughout New Zealand.
Girls will be able to gain an understanding of life in the technology arena via talks and presentations by industry leaders, including an evening discussion with women in the field who will share their experiences with students. Other presentations include:
- 3D modelling by MindKits
- Robotics by GatherGather
- App, game and website building by Code Avengers
#GirlsInnov8 will be held at St Cuthbert's College during the summer school holidays from Wednesday 21 January to Friday 23 January 2015. Girls can take part in two ways:
- Full residential coder (staying overnight): $500pp
- Day coder only: $300pp
Places for #GirlsInnov8 are limited so be quick – registrations will be open from 10 November. For full camp information see www.girlsinnov8.net.
