About the Role
As Deputy Principal (Curriculum & Assessment Design) you will lead the strategic direction of curriculum, reporting and assessment, ensuring our academic programmes remain future focused, evidence based and responsive to the needs of every learner.

You will champion high quality teaching and learning, lead school wide assessment and qualification frameworks and build leadership capability across academic teams. The role also contributes to the school’s strategic direction, pastoral framework, student wellbeing, operation excellence and the vibrant life of our boarding and day school community.

Key Responsibilities:
• Leading the strategic development, implementation and review of curriculum and teaching programmes.
• Driving excellence in reporting, data assessment, qualifications management, student achievement and data informed practice.
• Coaching and mentoring leaders and teachers to strengthen pedagogy and professional growth.
• Championing culturally responsive teaching and learning, including incorporating mātauranga Māori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Building leadership capability across faculties and fostering a collaborative, high performing culture.
• Supporting student wellbeing and promoting a positive, inclusive school culture.
• Providing leadership across academic systems, reporting and operational processes.
• Building strong and positive relationships with students, parents, whānau and the wider school community.
• Experience in Te Ao Māori leadership an advantage
• Other duties as allocated

You will be an experienced educational leader who is strategic, collaborative, future focused and committed to achieving outstanding progress and outcomes for students and staff.

You will bring:
• Proven senior leadership experience within a secondary school environment.
• Extensive knowledge of curriculum design, reporting, assessment and qualifications management.
• Strong understanding of qualification frameworks, NZQA requirements and contemporary educational practice.
• Experience using student achievement data to improve teaching and learning progress and outcomes.
• Outstanding leadership, coaching and relationship building skills.
• Excellent communication, sound judgement, a positive mindset and high emotional intelligence.
