The Opportunity:
An outstanding leadership opportunity exists for an experienced and dynamic educator to join the school as Director of Sport, commencing in Term 4 2026, or by mutual agreement.

This is a pivotal role within the school, responsible for leading and shaping a comprehensive and high performing sporting programme that promotes both broad participation and excellence. The Director of Sport will provide strategic direction, oversee programme delivery, and lead a team of coaches and staff to ensure the highest standards of organisation, engagement, and performance.
The role carries both strategic and operational responsibility, including the development of pathways that support participation, skill development, and competitive success, while remaining aligned with the values and ethos of Saint Kentigern.

The Director of Sport will also maintain an active teaching role within the Physical Education programme, modelling excellence in classroom practice and contributing to the broader educational experience of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Set and lead the strategic direction for sport across the school
- Develop and implement programmes that promote both participation and high performance
- Ensure alignment of the sporting programme with the Saint Kentigern values and educational philosophy

Programme Leadership and Delivery
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of all sporting activities
- Lead, develop, and support coaches and staff involved in the sporting programme
- Establish clear pathways for student development across a wide range of sports

Operational and Financial Management
- Manage the sports budget effectively and responsibly
- Ensure high standards of organisation, communication, and compliance
- Maintain strong administrative systems, including the effective use of digital tools

Teaching and School Contribution
- Retain a visible teaching presence in Physical Education, demonstrating best practice
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including co-curricular and community activities

The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate:
Leadership and Strategy
- Proven leadership and management experience within a school or comparable environment
- The ability to set direction, drive improvement, and deliver measurable outcomes

Professional Expertise
- A strong understanding of a wide range of sports and sporting programmes
- A commitment to excellence in both participation and performance
- Experience in budget management and programme oversight

Personal Capabilities
- The ability to inspire and lead students and staff with energy and credibility
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly developed planning and organisational capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Forms
- Alignment with the values and traditions of Saint Kentigern
