Te Tūranga | The role
As Head of Arts, you will lead a vibrant and diverse Learning Area that spans Drama, Visual Arts, Music and Dance from Year 7 to 13. You’ll guide a team of committed educators, shaping programmes that inspire creativity, confidence and high achievement across the Arts.
The role includes responsibility as Teacher in Charge of Music; however, applicants with strengths in other Arts disciplines may be considered. You’ll work collaboratively to develop innovative curriculum pathways, support high quality teaching practice, and nurture student engagement across a wide range of artistic experiences.

This is a role for an educator who enjoys working with people, values strong professional relationships, and is energised by the opportunity to grow and evolve a future focused Arts programme. Experience with NCEA and the International Baccalaureate (IB) is ideal, and full support for IB professional development will be provided.

Above all, you bring strong leadership capability, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for supporting both student success and staff development within the Arts.

Ngā haepapa | The responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and inspire teachers across Drama, Visual Arts, Music and Dance
• Shape and deliver a cohesive, future focused Arts curriculum from Year 7 to 13
• Champion creativity, student engagement, and high achievement across all Arts disciplines
• Provide leadership as Teacher in Charge of Music, or contribute specialist expertise in another Arts area
• Collaborate with staff to design innovative programmes and learning experiences
• Support and grow teacher capability through coaching, guidance, and professional development
• Build strong, trusted relationships with students, whānau, and the wider school community
• Ensure high-quality assessment and reporting practices across NCEA and the IB
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment
• Lead the ongoing development and strategic direction of the Arts Learning Area

• At least five years’ experience in teaching and leadership
• An active New Zealand Teachers Registration, or working towards registration
