Based on Auckland’s North Shore, Kristin School is a premier independent, co-educational, non-denominational school that welcomes over 1,800 students from Early Learning to Year 13 and employs over 300 staff. We are seeking an inspirational and forward-thinking Head of Library Services to lead, guide, and direct our Library Services across the Junior, Middle, and Senior Schools.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will develop the library as a vibrant centre of learning, supporting student achievement, reading engagement, and the school’s overall strategic plan. You will oversee all aspects of library operations, including staff management, budgets, physical and digital collection development, facilities, and academic programmes within the library.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Strategic Leadership & Management: Drive the library’s strategic direction, manage budgets, maintain Library Management Systems, and collaborate with Senior Leadership and Principals.
• Team Leadership: Provide line management, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for Junior, Middle, and Senior School Librarians.
• Collection Development: Oversee physical and digital eResource collections across all three schools to ensure resources are current, accessible, and aligned with curriculum needs.
• Reading Engagement: Champion a robust reading culture across the school through engaging literacy programmes, events, and curated reading materials.
• Inquiry Learning & Information Literacy: Collaborate with teachers and the Head of Digital Innovation to integrate digital and information literacy skills into the curriculum, supporting inquiry learning and research.
• Space & Facilities: Design and curate flexible, dynamic physical and virtual library spaces catering to collaborative work, teaching, recreation, and quiet study.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake
• Qualified Librarian with experience working in an educational or school environment
• Solid understanding of the New Zealand curriculum and International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes
• Proven track recording collection development, resource planning, e-resources and budgetary management
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership, staff management and mentoring.
• Strong understanding of information and digital literacy sills.
• Understanding of copyright rules for an educational environment.
