Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are seeking coaches for both Junior and Senior School teams, including Years 1–6, Years 7 and 8, Under 15, 3XI, 2XI, 1XI and goalkeepers.
These roles offer the opportunity to work closely with students, nurturing a love of hockey while developing technical skills and game knowledge in a supportive and engaging environment.
The hockey season runs from May to September during Terms 2 and 3, with optional pre-season training from February to April, post-season opportunities from October to December, and optional holiday camps throughout the year. Coaches will plan and lead training sessions under the guidance of the Head of Hockey, coach and umpire matches, communicate effectively with players and parents, support student coaches, and ensure a safe, inclusive, and well-organised programme week to week.

We are looking for individuals with a passion for hockey, strong communication and leadership skills, and a positive, energetic approach to working with young people. Previous coaching, playing, or experience working with children is preferred but not essential, and a commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment is essential.
Coaches may be asked to support teams at key events and competitions during the season.

Diocesan School for Girls is located in Epsom, Auckland, and offers a welcoming and supportive environment.
Coaches receive competitive remuneration of $25–$50 per hour depending on experience, free covered parking, access to wellbeing initiatives, regular social events, and the opportunity to work within a strong and connected school community.
