Mō te tūranga | About the role
This full-time leadership role offers the opportunity to shape language learning across the School, lead a high-performing team, and influence curriculum and pedagogy in a supportive, well-resourced, and future-focused environment. The HOF of Languages has 4 Management Units associated with it.
This role includes responsibility for:
- Leading curriculum and assessment across Mandarin, French, Spanish, Latin, German, and Japanese
- Ensuring effective implementation of NCEA and/or IB language programmes
- Building a positive, inclusive, and high-performing faculty culture
- Using achievement data to inform planning, target setting, and improvement strategies
- Supporting and developing staff through appraisal, coaching, and professional learning
- Managing faculty resources, budgets, and administration effectively
- Teaching within your specialist language area

- Proven leadership capability and the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team
- Strong curriculum knowledge in language education and assessment
- A passion for language learning and intercultural understanding
- Effective communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Registration as a teacher in Aotearoa New Zealand
- Familiarity with NCEA and/or IB programmes
