Specialist Teacher - Design, Technology & Engineering

Medbury School is seeking an exceptional educator to create a future focused Design, Technology and Engineering programme for boys in Years 5 to 8.

This is not a conventional Digital Technologies role. It is an opportunity to design a programme, combining design thinking, engineering, practical making and purposeful technology. In a makerspace environment, boys will identify problems, imagine possibilities, sketch, model, build, code, test, refine and turn ideas into meaningful solutions.

This new position sits at the heart of the Medbury Strategy Compass Towards 2030 and its commitment to supporting learning and innovation. It will help bring our intentionally digital direction to life: technology must earn its place by deepening thinking, expanding capability and enabling creativity. Digital tools will sit alongside materials, mechanisms, electronics, robotics, CAD, fabrication and hands on problem-solving.

We need a New Zealand registered teacher who understands boys, combines warmth with high expectations, and brings practical expertise in one or more relevant fields. Are you a creator of programmes and possibilities, collaborative, imaginative, safety conscious and excited by the energy generated by boys who are thinking and making? You will have scope to shape the curriculum, learning environment, resources and partnerships. Critical also is a connection with Science, Mathematics and Concept Based Inquiry and supporting colleagues to build confidence in purposeful digital learning.
