Saint Kentigern Boys’ School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Teacher / Librarian to join our team. This unique permanent position combines classroom teaching with leadership of our well-resourced school library, offering an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on student learning both in and beyond the classroom.
Working in a 50/50 split role, you will teach within our primary school programme while also managing and developing the library as a vibrant hub of literacy, inquiry and learning. You will work closely with students and staff to foster a love of reading, support curriculum initiatives, and ensure our library resources effectively enrich learning across the school.

About the Role
As our Teacher / Librarian, you will:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality classroom teaching
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the school library
- Promote a culture of reading and lifelong learning
- Curate, administer and organise library resources and collections
- Partner with teaching staff to support inquiry learning and curriculum programmes
- Guide students in developing information literacy and research skills
- Ensure the library remains a welcoming, well-organised and highly utilised learning environment
About You
The successful applicant will be:
- A registered New Zealand teacher (or eligible for registration)
- Passionate about fostering literacy and a love of reading
- An innovative educator committed to student engagement and achievement
- Highly organised, with strong administrative skills
- An excellent communicator with strong written and oral communication abilities
- Collaborative and able to build positive relationships with students, staff and families
- Experienced in a school and/or library environment, with library management experience highly desirable
- Supportive of and committed to the special character and values of Saint Kentigern.
