A small group of Selwyn House students were recently treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, meeting veteran NASA astronaut and former International Space Station commander, Michael López-Alegría.
Held at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand, the exclusive event brought together around 80 students to hear Mr. López-Alegría speak about the history of spaceflight, his experiences aboard the space shuttle, and the exciting future of space commercialisation. Our students were captivated throughout his inspiring presentation.
After the talk, the Selwyn House girls had a brief but memorable moment to meet Mr. López-Alegría before he departed for his next engagement. Their adventure didn’t end there, they were invited on a behind-the-scenes tour, including the opportunity to explore inside a Hercules aircraft.
The students returned with stars in their eyes and a renewed passion for science and exploration.
