Job Description

Inspiring young minds. Leading with heart. Teaching with purpose.

Medbury School is one of New Zealand’s leading independent preparatory schools for boys, proudly guiding ākonga aged 5 to 13 to learn, lead and succeed. We are a kura with a proud heritage and a bold future, driven by a vision to personalise learning for every boy and provide a holistic education that fosters character, confidence and curiosity.

We are seeking an exceptional Junior School Homeroom Teacher (NE–Y2) to join our dedicated team for Terms 3 and 4, 2025. This fixed-term opportunity has arisen as a result of the need to review resourcing for our growing Junior School syndicate. At Medbury, we view the early years as a critical foundation for lifelong learning, and this role plays a pivotal part in shaping the attitudes, confidence and capabilities of our youngest ākonga.

About the Role

As a Medbury Junior School teacher, you will join a connected, collaborative team committed to providing a nurturing, boy friendly environment. You will work within our refreshed Vision for Learning, which prioritises:

  • Literacy and numeracy foundations
  • Digital fluency and inquiry learning
  • Social emotional development through our Where We Thrive wellbeing framework
  • The Medbury values of Respect, Empathy, Excellence, and Integrity

This role is ideal for someone who believes in personalised learning, sees leadership as service to others, and is committed to helping every ākonga build the skills to thrive in life and create solutions for a better tomorrow.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Brings deep expertise in early years teaching and a passion for boy friendly pedagogy. Experience and a love for inspiring new entrants will be considered an advantage.
  • Creates a warm, inclusive classroom culture where every ākonga is known and valued
  • Uses evidence-based practice to support and extend diverse learners
  • Has a growth mindset and a willingness to contribute to a culture of reflective improvement
  • Understands how to integrate wellbeing and academic success in daily teaching

In return, we offer:

  • A rich, values-based school culture
  • Purposeful professional development and collaboration
  • Opportunities to contribute to our evolving curriculum and holistic programmes
  • A forward-thinking leadership team committed to staff wellbeing and innovation

If you're an educator who thrives in a setting that balances tradition with innovation, and you're excited to play a role in shaping tomorrow’s leaders, we’d love to hear from you.

Join us at Medbury – where boys learn, lead and succeed.
