Our Performing Arts programme at Southwell provides students with high-quality learning experiences in Dance, Drama, and Music. Taught by qualified, experienced specialist teachers in a well-resourced, purpose-built facility that includes Music/Drama classrooms, a dedicated Dance space, and a fully functional proscenium Theatre. Southwell students engage deeply with the curriculum and enjoy the many exciting artistic opportunities available to them.

We are currently in the phase of implementing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).

About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of engaging Performing Arts curricula across various year levels, with a primary focus on Drama and supporting instruction in Dance and other Performing Arts aspects.

Core Responsibilities Include:
Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and deliver Drama instruction to various year levels across the school, including Dance and other Performing Arts aspects of the curriculum.

Major Production Leadership: Direct and produce the annual whole-school Opera. This includes oversight of the budget, staffing, student auditions, and coordination with external agencies, producing a high-quality stage show for the school and wider community.

Support the other performing arts teachers and staff in oversight of the facility, including a commitment to school-wide and cultural activities Term by Term.

Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand and hold a current practicing certificate from the New Zealand Teaching Council or an international equivalent.
